How to make a website for your business.

You can get a website three ways: build it yourself, use a builder, or hire an agency. The first two look cheaper. The sums change once you count your hours and the customers the site brings you.

What every website needs

Whichever way you choose, you need:

  • A domain: the site’s address, such as yourbusiness.bg. You pay for it every year. You register a .bg domain through a company accredited by Register.BG.
  • Hosting: the computer that holds the site’s files.
  • A design that shows you are a serious business in the first few seconds.
  • Texts that say what you do and why customers should pick you.
  • A setup for Google, so people searching for your service find you.
  • One goal: the visitor calls you, writes to you, books a time or buys.

The domain and hosting are the easy part. The rest decides whether your site brings you customers.

Way 1: yourself, with WordPress

WordPress is free website software. You buy a domain and hosting, install it, pick a theme and fill it with your own content. It sounds easy until you get to the details.

What you do yourself:

  • The design: themes are ready-made templates used by thousands of other sites. Looking different takes skill.
  • Speed: every plugin you add weighs the site down, and a slow site loses visitors.
  • SEO: the titles, descriptions and site structure that help Google, other search engines and AI assistants find you.
  • Security: the theme and plugins need regular updates. Most known WordPress vulnerabilities are in plugins.
  • Fixes: when something goes wrong, there’s nobody to call.

You pay little money but a lot of hours, and those hours don’t go into your business.

Way 2: with a website builder

Builders (Wix, Webnode, Squarespace and others) give you a template to edit. Hosting is included, and in an afternoon you have a site online.

What comes with it:

  • A template look: many other businesses use the same template, and your customers can tell.
  • The free plan shows the platform’s ads and an address like yourbusiness.wixsite.com, which doesn’t look serious for a business.
  • A subscription every month, for as long as the site exists.
  • The platform controls the speed and the technical SEO, not you.
  • With most builders, the site isn’t yours. If you cancel and move elsewhere, you start from scratch.

A builder works for a personal page or a prototype, but for a business that wants customers it usually falls short.

Way 3: with an agency

You tell the agency what your business does and which customers you want. The agency designs, writes and builds the site, sets it up for Google and puts it online.

What you get:

  • A site with one clear goal: getting the visitor in touch with you.
  • SEO from day one: titles and descriptions written for search, and a structure Google can read.
  • Texts written for your customers.
  • A person to call when you need help.

Before you choose an agency, ask:

  • Whose name will the domain be in? It should be yours.
  • Is the price final?
  • When will the site be ready?
  • Is SEO included, or extra?

Questions

Can I make a website for free?

With a builder’s free plan, yes. The site sits on the platform’s address and shows its ads, which rarely makes a business’s customers trust it.

How long does it take to make a website?

Yourself with WordPress: from a few days to a few weeks, depending on your experience. With a builder, a simple page takes a day or two. With BLOK Studios, a one-page or business site is ready in up to 7 days after your yes.

Why pay an agency when a builder is cheaper?

You pay once for a site designed for your customers and set up for Google, instead of every month for a template where you do the work yourself. The sum includes your time.

What does your SEO include?

Page titles and descriptions written for search, a structure Google can read, and fast loading, which Google rewards. It is included in every site.

Who owns the site?

You do. The domain is registered in your name, and once the site is paid for, the site and everything in it are yours. You can take it to another developer at any time.

Shall we build yours?
